Take a style cue from Luke Skywalker with Columbia's latest 'Star Wars' sportswear line
Modeled after the iconic X-wing flight suit, this year's gear is the sportswear's company's most expansive collection yet.
Ready to get your Skywalker on?
For the latest edition of its annual Star Wars-themed apparel and accessories line, Columbia Sportswear is take a cue from Luke Skywalker’s classic orange flight suit that saw action across that galaxy far, far away — from the trenches of the Death Star to the icy climes of Hoth to the swampy murk of Dagobah.
Whether it be flying an X-wing, piloting a snowspeeder or heading for the ski slopes, the new collection, Columbia’s most expansive yet with nine different pieces, lets fans feel the Force just like Luke. From the full ski suit to the pullover hoodies to a cross-body bag, each piece offers a combination of Skywalker-channeling design, callbacks to Ralph McQuarrie’s peerless concept art and Easter eggs (midden schematics! messages encoded in Aurebesh!) combined with Columbia’s high-tech construction.
“These are not costume replicas,” Matt Merriman, Columbia’s VP of brand development and partnerships, says in a press release. “Rather, our product team took inspiration from Luke Skywalker’s iconic flight suit and created a fully equipped ski collection built to withstand the elements.”
Beginning in 2016 with a line of Rogue One-branded jackets, Columbia has been issuing new Star Wars wear every year since, with the limited-edition collections selling out despite pricetags ranging up to $500.
The new gear will be available on Columbia.com/StarWars starting at 12:01 a.m. ET on Dec. 1, 2023, as well as at select retail locations (the full list is on the Columbia site).
