Heels has been canceled.

Joe Otterson of Variety reports that Starz has canceled Heels after two seasons. A reason for the move was not provided. The series, which stars Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, premiered in 2021. It follows the story of the Duffy Wrestling League, a wrestling company in Georgia. Amell plays Jack Spade, who inherited the league from his father, while Ludwig plays his brother, Ace.

The show also starred Chris Bauer, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, and more. A number of wrestlers appeared on Heels, including CM Punk and AJ Lee.

The second season of Heels premiered on July 28, 2023, and concluded on September 15, 2023.

Run the World and Blindspotting were also canceled, while the first season of The Venery of Samantha Bird was scrapped without airing.

Mary McCormack Talks Female Wrestling Representation On Heels

In an interview with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, Mary McCormack discussed the way the second season of Heels tackled female representation.

“Yeah, I don’t know. That’s a really interesting point because it is,” Mary McCormack said. “Duffy’s a tiny town, so I sort of buy that there’s not a women’s division in this tiny little independent promotion. But you’re right to say that women’s wrestling is everywhere, and it’s alive and dynamic, and fans love it.

“Men and women love it. So I don’t know what the I don’t know if Mike [O’Malley] and [Michael Waldron] and the team of writers were addressing a specific complaint or note. I don’t know. That’d be an interesting question for Mike. But I’m just glad they did because you’re right, it’s A, realistic and B, like a rich and fertile storytelling ground.”
