Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Debut Gets Standing Ovation on Social Media
Stephen Colbert made his highly-anticipated debut on the “Late Show” Tuesday and millions of viewers who were glued to their TVs also simultaneously shared their opinion of the premiere on social media.
David Letterman‘s replacement on the long-running CBS late-night show welcomed George Clooney and Jeb Bush as his first guests, along with bandleader Jon Batiste and his entourage, Stay Human.
However, it was his sugary feeding frenzy that was the biggest hit on social media after a skit comparing the media coverage of Donald Trump to eating Oreos sparked sweet cravings.

A shout-out to former “Daily Show” colleague Jon Stewart was another winner, being described on Twitter as “pure class.”
It wasn’t just fans tweeting about Colbert on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, rival late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and James Corden sent their support.
