Stephen Colbert upset after someone publishes impostor version of his Trump book

On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Thursday, the host revealed that someone has published on Amazon a rip-off of his Donald Trump-inspired book, Whose Boat Is This Boat?, a collection of Trump’s utterances while touring the aftermath of a hurricane. And it got worse for Colbert.

“The full title of this rip-off is Whose Boat Is This Boat & Other Poems By Trump,” Colbert said. “And here’s the most infuriating part: It’s the No. 1 poetry book on Amazon.”

The good news is that Whose Boat is This Boat? — the real one — is No. 2 in overall nonfiction books on Amazon. And 100 percent of the proceeds from Colbert’s book are going to hurricane relief for the Carolinas, Florida, and Georgia. That’s probably why Colbert is ready to brew up a storm of his own.

“You better lawyer up, buddy, because my attorney is going to crawl so far up your ass you’re going to have to get a court order just to fart,” Colbert joked. “OK? It is hammer time!”

Colbert said he is upset primarily because the other product is pulling money from hurricane victims, and he called the copycat “insulting.”

“Not as insulting as tossing paper towels at hurricane victims,” Colbert said, referring to Trump’s actions in Puerto Rico. “But still.”

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 on CBS.
