Stephen Oyoung Joins ‘Mission: Impossible 8’
EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Oyoung (Twisters) is the newest addition to the cast of the eighth Mission: Impossible film from Paramount Pictures and Skydance, Deadline can exclusively reveal.
Details as to the plot of the latest spy actioner in the series remain under wraps, as does Oyoung’s role. But the film follows up Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which grossed over $567MM worldwide last summer and landed a pair of Oscar nominations for Best Sound and Visual Effects.

The Mission: Impossible films center on Cruise’s Impossible Missions Force agent Ethan Hunt, who with his team, has embarked on assorted globe-trotting missions to avert global disaster. In addition to Cruise, returning cast will include Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell and Frederick Schmidt. Others making their Mission: Impossible debut in the eighth installment include Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Katy O’Brian and Tramell Tillman.
Christopher McQuarrie has returned to direct from his own script and is producing alongside Cruise, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Chris Brock serving as exec producers. The film is slated for release on May 23, 2025.
Part of the cast of Universal’s Twisters, which hits theaters on July 19, Oyoung has previously been seen in films like Sicario and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, as well as such series as Insecure, For All Mankind, CSI: Vegas, and Fresh Off the Boat. Best known for his voice work in AAA video games, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 for Sony PlayStation, he’s also a fight coordinator who has trained the likes of Keanu Reeves for 47 Ronin, Denzel Washington for The Equalizer, and Adam Driver for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
