Stevie Wonder appeals for kindness, launching 10-city October tour in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH ― Stevie Wonder will play 10 select cities in October, starting with Pittsburgh, "in a call for joy over anger, kindness over recrimination, peace over war.”
Wonder will perform Oct. 8 at PPG Paints Arena. Tickets go on sale at noon Friday.
The tour dates come at "the height of a critical election season and a pivotal juncture in American politics and culture," Wonder, a 25-time Grammy winner, Academy Award winner and Presidential Medal of Freedom honoree, said Thursday in a press release.
As a special thank you, Wonder will offer a designated amount of complimentary tickets "to those in our communities who are already working tirelessly to fix our nation’s broken heart."
The tour is named “Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart," after Wonder's new single "Can We Fix Our Nation's Broken Heart?"
Other tour stops include New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Greensboro, Atlanta, Detroit, Milwaukee and Minneapolis before concluding Oct. 30 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
