Storm Reid not returning for ‘Euphoria’ Season 3
When “Euphoria” eventually returns for Season 3, Gia won’t be part of it, Gold Derby can confirm.
Storm Reid shared the news with Rotten Tomatoes at the Governors Awards red carpet Tuesday night, revealing that she will not return for the upcoming season of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama series. She played Georgia “Gia” Bennett, younger sister of Zendaya‘s Rue, in the first two seasons.

“I’m very excited for Season 3,” Reid said when asked about “Euphoria,” which is scheduled to go back into production in January. “Unfortunately, Gia’s not returning to the third season, but I am so, so indebted to the cast and the crew of that show, to HBO. ‘Euphoria’’s a really special thing and I’m so glad that that’s a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon … I can’t wait to see what Season 3 has in store.”
Season 3 promises big changes for the Sam Levinson-helmed series about troubled youth, which premiered in 2019 and last aired in 2022. Zendaya recently revealed that there will be a time jump, so that the characters will no longer be in high school. Season 3 has faced delays from the strikes and over creative, with HBO announcing in March 2024 that production on the series was delayed while Levinson worked on scripts and the cast pursued other opportunities.
The series will also be returning without Angus Cloud‘s Fez, as Cloud tragically died in 2023 at the age of 25, or Barbie Ferreira‘s Kat, as Ferreira announced her departure from the series in 2022 over creative differences.
The main cast, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, and Colman Domingo, is expected to return for the eight-episode third season.
Zendaya has won two lead actress Emmys for her performance, and the show was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series for Season 2. It has earned a total of 25 nominations and nine wins so far.
Reid won a guest actress Emmy in 2023 for her performance on “The Last of Us.” She will next be seen in singer Teyana Taylor‘s directorial debut, dance drama “Get Lite.”
