Strawberry Jammin is the toast of the town this weekend
May 9—Strawberry Jammin' is back later this week for the third year.
Enjoy the atmosphere from Carthage Street to Steele Street, from Chatham Street to Wicker, there's so much to do, to see, to taste, and enjoy at the end of this week, in Sanford.
From Thursday through Saturday, get ready to have a "berry" awesome time with all of the activities happening not only in Downtown Sanford, but elsewhere across Sanford and the county.
Besides all the fun downtown, Catherine Ann's Cookies and Fonda Lupita will also offer a strawberry item on their menu this weekend, and in Broadway, Pop Heaven will be celebrating Strawberry Jammin' with strawberry popcorn and strawberry shortcake, Los Charros will offer strawberry margaritas, and Howard's Dips & Dawgs will have strawberry ice cream for your tastebuds to enjoy.
"What started as a themed farmers' market event three years ago has evolved into a three-day festival, which just shows how much interest and excitement we have had among our partners and our visitors." Visit Sanford Executive Director Wendy Bryan said. "Visit Sanford has worked to promote agri-tourism, dining, retail and music over the past few years, and the Strawberry Jammin' Festival is a compilation of these efforts."
This year Indie Fest at Hugger Mugger will be happening during Strawberry Jammin', giving many options to choose from this weekend.
"Festival-goers will find every imaginable variety of strawberry delicacy throughout the county, along with themed shopping and three days filled with music in various locations downtown." Bryan said. "We are excited to showcase all our community has to offer."
At 1 p.m. Saturday, The City of Sanford will dedicate the Piedmont Blues mural, celebrating Sanford's rich history to musical tradition. The event will take place in Depot Park with music by TC MArsh, Floyd Council Jr, with Guy Unger, 12 Bar Blues Band, Allegheny Willi, Lee County All Stars, and Little Pink Anderson.
The public is encouraged to come out and have a great time at Strawberry Jammin', starting at 6 p.m. Thursday and continuing through Saturday.
