Streaming Ratings: ‘The Perfect Couple’ Opens on Top With Big Premiere Week
The Perfect Couple shot to the top overall spot in Nielsen’s streaming rankings for its premiere week.
The murder mystery limited series, which stars Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber and Dakota Fanning, accumulated 1.91 billion minutes of viewing for the week of Sept. 2-8 (it premiered on Sept. 5). That’s the fifth highest total for any original series premiere week on the streaming charts this year, behind Fool Me Once (3.04 billion minutes), Fallout (2.9 billion), Bridgerton (2.76 billion) and Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender (2.56 billion).

The Perfect Couple was one of five titles to record more than a billion minutes of viewing for the week. The others are Netflix’s movie Rebel Ridge (1.11 billion), Family Guy (1.06 billion), Prison Break (1.05 billion) — which had been the overall No. 1 for the previous four weeks — and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (1.02 billion), which was even with its season two premiere a week earlier.
Farther down the original series chart, two other shows made the top 10 for their premiere weeks as well. Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (409 million minutes) became the streamer’s first unscripted show to make the rankings. Peacock’s star-studded Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist gathered 346 million minutes after debuting Sept. 5. Netflix’s survival competition Outlast (372 million minutes) returned to the rankings with the start of its second season.
Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries. The top streaming titles for Sept. 2-8, 2024, are below.
