Succession wins best TV drama at Golden Globes

You don’t mess with the Roy family.

Following an extremely successful second season, HBO’s hit drama Succession has taken home the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama at Sunday’s ceremony. The series follows the lives of the Roy family as the patriarch begins to step back from the media and entertainment conglomerate they control. What follows is a lot of drama, a few shocking twists, and, of course, betrayal.

The series was also nominated in two other categories, including Brian Cox for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama and Kieran Culkin for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Including 2019, this brings the series’ total nominations to four.

Succession creator Jesse Armstrong took the stage with the cast to accept the award and congratulated everyone who’d worked on the series, saying, “If you’ve ever appeared on the call sheet or in the titles of Successions, ‘Congratulations we’ve won a Golden Globe!'”

Succession beat out fellow nominees The Morning Show, The Crown, Killing Eve, and Big Little Lies.
