Suge Knight’s Bail Revoked in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Rap music mogul Suge Knight, arrested last week on a murder charge, had his bail revoked on Monday due to concerns that he posed a flight risk, that he is a candidate under the state’s three-strikes law and for the possibility of witness intimidation, a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department official said on Monday.
Deputy Mike Barraza said that another factor was Knight’s criminal record. Barazza said that investigators petitioned for a “no bail” designation on Monday morning.
Knight, former CEO of Death Row Records, was arrested on suspicion of murder early Friday following a fatal hit and run in Compton on Thursday. He was held on more than $2 million bail at the West Hollywood station.
Knight, 49, claims he was attacked by two crew members near a promotional shoot for Universal’s “Straight Outta Compton,” an upcoming film about the rap group NWA. In an effort to flee to safety, he said he hit two men with his truck.
However, Lt. John Corina told the Los Angeles Times last week that 20 minutes after an argument on the “Straight Outta Compton” set, Knight followed the two men down the street to Tam’s Burgers where he ran them over.
Knight is currently in Men’s Central Jail and is due at Compton Municipal Court for a hearing on Tuesday.
His attorney, James Blatt, could not immediately be reached for comment.
