Six stars have joined Netflix‘s The Waterfront cast, which is an upcoming family drama starring The Iron Claw’s Holt McCallany and The Cooler’s Maria Bello.

Inspired by true events, The Waterfront — which will consist of eight episodes — is a story about the flawed and dysfunctional Buckley family “as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.”

McCallany is set to play the family patriarch Harlan Buckley, while Bello will play his wife Mae Buckley. The series is written and executive produced by Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer scribe Kevin Williamson. He is also the creator behind several television shows, including Dawson’s Creek, Wasteland, Hidden Palms, The Vampire Diaries, The Following, Stalker, and Tell Me a Story.

Who is in The Waterfront cast?

The Girls on the Bus and Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist has joined the series as “the intelligent and hot-tempered” Bree Buckley, while It Follows and Trigger Warning’s Jake Weary is set to play Harlan’s only son Cane Buckley.

Joining them are Rafael L. Silva (9-1-1: Lone Star) as the Buckleys newly-hired bartender Shawn Wilson, Danielle Campbell (Tell Me a Story) as Cane’s wife Peyton Buckley, Humberly González (Ginny & Georgia) as Cane’s former lover Jenna Tate, and Brady Hepner (The Holdovers) as Bree’s “resentful” teenage son Diller Hopkins.

Devil in Ohio’s Gerardo Celasco and Daredevil: Born Again’s Michael Gaston will both recur as DEA Agent Marcus Sanchez and Sheriff Clyde Porter, respectively. Meanwhile, Zach Roerig (The Vampire Diaries) will guest star in the series as Troy.

Marcos Siega (You, Dexter: New Blood) is set to direct the first two episodes of The Waterfront. Siega will also executive produce the pilot episode with Ben Fast for Outerbanks Entertainment. The series hails from Universal Television.

The release date for The Waterfront has yet to be announced.
