Fear Street: Prom Queen takes us back to the town of Shadyside, Ohio, where prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.
Matt Palmer is directing from his script written with Donald McLeary, with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kori Adelson producing for Chernin Entertainment. Yvonne Bernard, Joan Waricha, and Jane Stine are exec producing, with Caroline Pitofsky overseeing production for Chernin Entertainment.
In a first for Netflix, the original Fear Street trilogy was released over three consecutive weeks in July 2021, as a special summer event, with the films spending 12 collective weeks on the Netflix Top 10.
The first film, Part 1: 1994, watches as a group of teenagers discovers that the terrifying events plaguing their town may be linked to a centuries-old curse, with the second, Part 2: 1978, taking us back in time to tell the dark story of Camp Nightwing. As the town of Shadyside continues to grapple with its dark history, a group of camp counselors confronts a new wave of horrors unleashed by the curse. Trilogy closer Part 3: 1666 takes audiences back to the origins of the curse, revealing the sinister events that unfolded in the town of Union, which eventually led to the creation of Shadyside and its bloody history.
