Swift merch flying off the shelves as swifties gather in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As she strutted into Arrowhead Thursday night, Taylor Swift is proving that the Chiefs Kingdom never goes out of style.
That’s true for local vendors who are tasked with creating new items to keep up with the Swiftie demand.
“We cycle through things very quickly,” said Made in KC General Manager Kari Lindner.
The Made in KC Marketplace just dropped a new t-shirt design, which features Taylor and Travis on stage together at the Eras Tour, at their Plaza location on Tuesday.

As of Friday, only a few are left; after that, there’s no more.
“That’s what’s fun is because she’s so busy it keeps giving people new ideas,” Lindner continued.
Lindner explained that she sees people come from all over the country just for the Kingdom’s most famous couple. Whether it’s cookies, caffeinated beverages, earrings, headbands, clothing, or whatever you can think of, the demand for Swift is incredibly high.
The most recent groups to visit Made in KC’s Plaza location include one from Canada and another from Philadelphia, who told Lindner they only booked a trip to Kansas City after seeing a TikTok featuring the Taylor merchandise.
FOX 4 caught up with Megan Hoffman, a Swiftie and Chiefs fan from Indiana, who was in town for Thursday’s home opener. She purchased a red sweater featuring Swift’s heart-shaped hands made famous during her Fearless era.
“I wanted a souvenir and I am a Swiftie, so it’s kind of tying in Kansas City and my Swiftie moment together,” she said.
At Whiskers Cat Cafe in Midtown, Taylor-themed drinks and trinkets are a part of the appeal as the global icon is a proud cat mom. “We have recreated Taylor’s cats in the different jerseys,” said the cafe’s owner, Audrey Boese, while showing off a painting that one of her employees created.
Things to do this weekend in Kansas City: September 6-8
The connection between Swift and cats is a draw that will hopefully result in more adoptions at Whiskers, which helps adopt cats through a partnership with KC Pet Project.
“It’s fun to have her on the cat side of things, and how much she loves her cats and publicly loves her cats has been so fun to talk about.”
Whiskers has had a celebrity sighting before thanks to SNL star Heidi Gardner, and they hope Taylor will be the next famous face to stop by.
“You never know,” added Boese with a smile.
The locally owned EB and Co. is also benefiting greatly from the global pop superstar. Creative director and owner Emily Bordner said ever since Swift was photographed wearing the “87” ring she designed last season she’s seen major success.
“I would love to give her and Donna [Kelce] a hug. They have just turned my world upside down and totally changed my business. They helped me buy my dream house this year,” Bordner said.
The Chiefs’ next home game is Sunday, September 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fans speculate that Swift will be there to support her beau since she’ll still be on a brief hiatus from her Eras Tour.
