New Sydney Sweeney Projects in 2024 and Beyond

The two-time Emmy-nominated Sydney Sweeney has been on a hot streak, starring in five films and a music video that have been released in the last fourteen months, producing two of them, which have put her on the map as one of the most exciting voices working in the industry right now.

Sweeney's career dates back to 2009 when she starred as Lisa in ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction from director Kevin Hamedani, going on to appear in television series Heroes and Criminal Minds.

Her success started to ramp up in 2019 when she appeared as Cassie Howard in Euphoria, starring alongside Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, and Alexia Demie.

The series skyrocketed the careers of all the young stars who now have a series of accolades under their belts.

Sweeney's showing no sign of slowing down. Attached to eight upcoming projects, ranging from series to feature films, we've got the breakdown of all the projects you can expect to see from the starlet in the coming years.

Eden (2024)

Joining Vanessa Kirby, Ana de Armas, and Jude Law, Sydney Sweeney stars as Margret Wittmer in this film from two-time Oscar winner Ron Howard.

As per IMDB, Eden follows a group of people fueled by a profound desire for change. In order to turn their back on society, they leave everything behind and set their futures on the harsh landscape of the Galapagos.

Eden premieres on September 7, 2024, at the Toronto International Film Festival but does not yet have a date for wide release.

Echo Valley

Currently in post-production, as per IMDb, Echo Valley follows Julianne Moore as Kate, a woman dealing with a personal tragedy while owning and training horses in Echo Valley.

Sweeney plays Moore's daughter, Claire, who arrives at her doorstep covered in someone else's blood.

Christy Martin Biopic

Perhaps one of the most exciting projects on Sweeney's slate is an untitled Christy Martin biopic, which Sweeney will lead and produce.

The film follows the 90s most successful female boxer and is set to be directed by The King's David Mich?d, who co-wrote the script with his wife, Mirrah Foulkes.

The Registration

Another page-to-screen adaptation, The Registration is based on Madison Lawson's novel of the same name, with Sweeney attached to the project to produce and star in.

The script will be penned by the writers behind The Night House, Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski are adapting the script.

Lawson's novel follows Lynell Mize and asks the question: Imagine it's legal to commit one murder in your lifetime... if you Register the victim and accomplish the kill within fourteen days (as per the book's synopsis).

When Lynell Mize decides to register the man who abused her as a child, she hears a stranger register her, which leaves Mize in a fight for survival over the next fourteen days while trying to discover who would want to use their one kill on her.

The Caretaker

Another thriller – and another page-to-screen project – The Caretaker takes inspiration from Marcus Kliewer’s short story of the same name and will star Sweeney.

It follows a young woman who takes on a caretaking job off Craigslist where she discovers her responsibilities have stakes far greater than she could have imagined.

Sweeney will also produce through her Fifty-Fifty Films banner.

Barbarella

The latest announcement for Sweeney came earlier this year in May when it was revealed that she is in talks to star in a remake of the 1968 Roger Vadim film starring Jane Fonda.

Deadline's exclusive report on the project also shared that Edgar Wright is in talks to join as director on the film which has Jane Goldman and Honey Ross in negotiations to pen.

The '68 film takes place in the 41st century, where an astronaut seeks to stop an evil scientist.

The Players Table

There's very little out there on this one, but the mini-series for television has been in the works for years between Sweeney and singer/songwriter Halsey and will be based on Jessica Goodman's 2020 novel They Wish They Were Us.

Described as a "prep-school thriller" that is Gossip Girl meets Elite, the book follows secret society member Jill Newman, who finds herself tangled up in a murder mystery.

Euphoria Season 3

Last but not least, there is the ever-elusive Euphoria season three, which has been on again/off again for a while, and the future is uncertain as HBO delays filming. However, it is listed on her IMDb, so we felt it necessary to include it for the fans out there... the hope is not yet dead.
