'SYTYCD' Turns 10: Nigel Lythgoe's Glorious Hair Evolution... and 5 More of His Best Moments

After 10 years on the air (today!), fans of So You Think You Can Dance have been through quite a few changes — from airdates to the introduction of the All-Stars — but few have been more drastic than the evolution of judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe’s hair. Don’t believe us? Just watch.

Of course, the strands at the top of Nigel’s head aren’t the only things about his role on the show that hold a special place in our hearts. The Austin Powers-esque king of our annual summer danceathon has had plenty of other unforgettable moments throughout the years. Here are just a few:

1. Remember when Nigel got off his feet and hit the floor with a bunch of adorable kids?

2. It’s rare, but every once in a while, the snarky sir shows us his softer side. Nowhere was that more evident than how choked up he got following Melissa Sandvig and Ade Obayomi’s much loved breast cancer number…

3. That time Nigel made out with longtime judge Mary Murphy… (We’ll never be able to unsee it.)

4. And let’s not forget Nigel’s deep, deep love for ballroom dancer Anya Garnis. “She is so sexy,” was the first thing he said about her during her Season 3 audition (she hadn’t even started dancing yet, either)… and he hasn’t stopped gushing ‘bout her since.

5. It really warms our hearts whenever Nigel says nice things to Cat Deeley. Because she deserves it. Always.

But, really, let’s not fool ourselves. It’s all about the hair.
