Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Are in the ‘Dressing Like Each Other’ Phase of Their Relationship

Are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce the new Brad Pitt and literally any of his girlfriends from the ’90s and early ’00s?

If your media diet is anything like mine, there are a trio of photos of Brad Pitt and his exes that are permanently etched into your brain, simply because they highlight Pitt’s superpower: shape-shifting. The theory goes that whomever Pitt is dating becomes the blueprint for his next style era. He was slick and modern while dating Gwyneth Paltrow; beachy and boho while married to Jennifer Aniston; and classic but cool while married to Angelina Jolie. And it looks like Travis Kelce possesses the same shape-shifting superpower.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended game one of the American League Championships Series between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians on Monday, October 15, clad in a black baseball cap and black sweater. It’s a fairly low-key outfit that Swift, notably, was also wearing. If this had been their only matchy-matchy incident, I probably would’ve let it slide. But it’s not.

When the couple attended the US Open in New York back in September, Swift was giving retro Americana in a gingham minidress. Kelce matched her vibe to a T in a breezy Gucci polo, a Gucci bucket hat, and a perfectly manicured mustache, which I’ve always maintained is the male version of having bangs (a Swift signature).

Speaking of bangs, Kelce stepped out over the weekend for another date night with Swift, giving us a closer look at his grown-out hair. If you’ll recall, this man used to sport a buzz cut. Now? Now he’s got a bit of a swoopy side-part going on that kind of looks like his girlfriend’s…

Here they are again last month looking like the king and queen of the prom. Check Kelce’s fresh shave and gelled hair (which is very much giving Old Hollywood movie star), plus the funky knit with a playful robot patch and contrasting brown buttons. This man has Mr. Taylor Swift (positive) written all over him.

Remember, this is where we started in July 2023, when they first started seeing each other. Note the earrings, the full beard, the buzz cut. The monochromatic look is nice, but doesn’t fully capture his big goofy teddy-bear essence. We’ve truly come a long way.

There you have it. Kelce has fully adopted his girlfriend’s aesthetic, which is a net positive for society IMO. Sorry, Brad Pitt! There’s a new shape-shifter in town.
