“Ted Lasso” May be Back! Show Reportedly in Talks for Season 4

The studio has reportedly picked up the options on original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift

Ted Lasso may not be over yet!

The hit Apple TV+ show, which originally concluded after three seasons in 2023, is moving towards a fourth season, outlets including Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and Variety reported on Aug. 24.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Television has picked up options on British cast members Hannah Waddingham (who played Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), who were contracted under the United Kingdom acting union Equity.

The studio allegedly still needs to make new deals for the actors represented by SAG-AFTRA in the United States, which includes Jason Sudeikis (who played title character Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard)— who co-created, executive-produced and starred in the show — and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).

PEOPLE reached out to Warner Bros. Television for confirmation but the studio declined to comment.

Earlier in August, co-creator Bill Lawrence told Collider the future of the show is dependent on Sudeikis after dismissing the season four rumors as "groupthink." Overall, he said, "Whatever Jason feels like doing and whatever his decision is, we're all down with it."

Lawrence noted that the Saturday Night Live alum has to make sacrifices to film the series as it mainly follows an English soccer team and is filmed in London.

Therefore, the father of two has to be away from his children for long periods of time during production. "Not only is he the star, he’s the head writer, and he’s also the dude whose life just has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children," the co-creator said at the time, adding that "it’s a big deal."

While chatting with PEOPLE in January, Sudeikis was optimistic when asked about the potential of spinoffs or additional seasons of the beloved series.

"I feel three seasons of the show were just made with and attempted to personify and portray the spirit of hope, and so I offer those three seasons as an example," he said.

Ahead of the premiere of the third season in 2023, Sudeikis said in a Deadline interview that the season signifies "the end of this story we wanted to tell." He also teased more to come, saying that the show has "set the table for all sorts of folks … to get to watch the further telling of these stories."
