Teresa Giudice posts crying Statue of Liberty pic over husband Joe's deportation — and people aren't sympathetic
Some people don’t have much sympathy for Teresa Giudice’s family troubles.
On Sunday night, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star posted a picture of the Statue of Liberty crying with only praying hands emojis as the caption. But it was clear the Instagram post was in response to news that her husband, Joe Giudice, will be deported to Italy when he’s released from prison next year.

Joe started serving a 41-month sentence in 2016 for mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud. Both he and Teresa ultimately pleaded guilty in 2014 to dozens of charges, and she was released from prison in 2015.
Because Joe isn’t a U.S. citizen — despite having lived in the country for decades — a judge ordered him to leave the country once he’s released. While some Instagram commenters took pity on Teresa and the couple’s four daughters, others were less forgiving.
“I imagine that the families of the 29 Creditors who Joe owed money were also crying and suffering financially because of Joe’s GREED when he fraudulently applied for bankruptcy just so that he wouldn’t have to give their money back,” one Instagram commenter wrote. “And now are we supposed to feel bad for Joe who was lining his pockets for HIS family’s financial gain and comforts, while subjecting 29 other people’s families to financial lossr??? Please.”
Others pointed out that Joe stole from the government by not paying taxes, adding that they believe he has to deal with the consequences.
“He cheated the [government]. Plain and simple,” one commenter wrote.
Teresa reportedly asked Donald Trump to write a character reference for Joe back in 2016 (before Trump was president) in the hopes that her former Celebrity Apprentice boss could help get him a lighter sentence. However, Trump’s office said it couldn’t help, according to TMZ. It’s unclear if she will now try asking the president to allow Joe to stay in the country.
If the president feels anything like some Instagram commenters, though, he’s unlikely to help Joe. Meanwhile, many are accusing Teresa — who has expressed support for Trump — of being a hypocrite for expecting different rules for her own husband despite POTUS’s anti-immigration stance.
“Trump made it clear he doesn’t like immigrants,” noted one commenter. “You like that mother****** now?”
The couple’s 17-year-old daughter, Gia Giudice, has also raised eyebrows with her defense of her father. The teen shared a video of a fan claiming the deportation ruling was “racist” because Joe is Italian.
On Monday morning, Teresa posted a photo of Gia and her touring Rutgers University in their home state with a message that they started the day with a more positive outlook.
“Taking it one day at a time,” Teresa wrote.
Taking it one day at a time, with my beautiful Gia checking out @rutgersu
