'Thank God I messed with your hubby!': Ellen Pompeo recalls iconic 'Grey's Anatomy' scene
Warning: This story contains spoilers about several seasons of "Grey's Anatomy"; if you're just starting to watch the series during quarantine, you may want to wait until you're further along.
Ellen Pompeo and Kate Walsh are celebrating a major "Grey's Anatomy" milestone: the day Addison Montgomery-Shepherd shook our entire worlds.
On Friday, Walsh shared a clip to Twitter from the Season 1 finale of the iconic medical drama series where her character first made an appearance. The episode premiered May 22, 2005.
"Unreal that today marks 15 years ago to the day since this little lady walked on to your screen and checked ya for screwing her husband," the "Private Practice" actress captioned the tweet, tagging co-stars Patrick Dempsey and Pompeo.
In the scene, Derek Shepherd (Dempsey) and Meredith Grey (Pompeo) are getting ready to leave the hospital when Addison (Walsh) walks up to the pair and introduces herself as Derek's wife, much to Meredith's surprise.
"Hi, I'm Addison Shepherd," she told Meredith. "And you must be the woman who's been screwing my husband."
Fifteen years later, Pompeo finds the interaction funny.
"Thank god I messed with your hubby!! it worked out well for us both!!! Love you so much and THAT scene ...when your character showed up ...was such a defining moment for this show. From that point on we had them hooked!!!" Pompeo replied to Walsh's tweet.

Dempsey commented with three hand clapping emojis on Walsh's Instagram.
"Grey's Anatomy" has gone through many cast changes since Addison's debut appearance in 2005. For starters, the series recently wrapped up its 16th season and both Walsh's or Dempsey's characters are long gone. Walsh's character was spun off into "Private Practice" in 2007 and Dempsey's was killed off in 2015. (Derek's sister, played by Caterina Scorsone, stepped in as the hospital's new neurosurgeon also appeared on "Private Practice.")

Justin Chambers (Dr. Alex Karev), one of the few remaining original cast members, also exited the series this season after 15 years.
"There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years," Chambers' statement read.
"For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices. And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time," the statement continued.
Karev's send-off episode, which aired March 5, gave us all the feels. He left his wife Jo (Camilla Luddington) to reunite offscreen with ex-wife Izzie (Katherine Heigl) ... and the two children Izzie had using frozen embryos the two made back in Season 5.
We're not kidding.
The episode, which was chock-full of montages of seasons past, featured Jo, his frenemy-turned-best friend Meredith (Pompeo) and former boss Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) all reading letters from him (the return address was from Kansas; Meredith's simply read "Evil Spawn," a nod to his former nickname.
