'The Bronze' Trailer Goes for Gold With NSFW Gymnast Humor (Exclusive)
Imagine if former ice-skating star Tonya Harding inhabited gold-medal gymnast Mary Lou Retton’s body and you get something close to the premise of the forthcoming comedy The Bronze. (Watch the first red-band trailer exclusively above!)
Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory, who even looks a little like Harding) plays Hope Greggory, a washed-up former Olympian living with her dad (Gary Cole, Office Space). Foul-mouthed and lazy, she takes bong rips and liquor swigs in her warm-up suit before even leaving the house. She has no career prospects — or even aspirations — until a local rising athlete seeks her help. Bent on continuing down her slovenly path, it takes some convincing to cajole Hope back into the gym as a coach. It’s a good thing she has a stuttering childhood friend to cheer her on, played by Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch.
Also with Sebastian Stan (of the Captain America series), The Bronze tumbles into theaters spring of next year.
