'The View' co-host Abby Huntsman blasts 'The New York Times' for Brett Kavanaugh piece: 'Sloppy and lazy'
Monday’s episode of The View took a look at the resurfaced allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, specifically an opinion piece published—and abruptly revised—in the New York Times over the weekend, which relied on some second-hand sources.
Co-host Abby Huntsman, a longtime journalist, pulled no punches in expressing disgust over the matter, calling the Times’ editorial “sloppy and lazy.”
“There was a time growing up when I watched my dad read the New York Times, and I would read it with him, and it was a place where sourcing was at least beyond one name,” she noted. “Now we’re in this place where there isn’t a difference between tabloid news and a Times article.
“That, to me, is really sad — and plays right into the president’s hands,” she added, finishing with a zinger: “New York Times, congratulations! If the president gets re-elected, you are helping him get there.”
Fellow conservative Meghan McCain agreed to some extent with Huntsman, saying, “I totally get what you’re saying about reporting,” but added that she thinks the Times is “still a great publication with a lot of great journalists.“ Her advice to the outlet: “Pull your crap together.”
