‘The Walking Dead’ Creator Loves to Mess With Fans

Robert Kirkman visited Conan on Monday and shared his love for messing with the fans of his show. The Walking Dead creator said that although he’s not allowed to reveal which character is killed next, he is constantly asked that very thing by fans and interviewers.

His solution is to answer that any random and beloved character is going to die. Kirkman then sits back and watches the person freak out and deal with the fake loss. Like his character, Negan, he must love to watch people suffer awkward pain.

For those looking for inside information, Kirkman does have a hidden pattern to his weird madness: The characters he says will die are actually safe — for at least an episode.

Conan airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on TBS.
