`Theatre World’ Awards Salute Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd Broadway Bows

Bryan Cranston, starring on Broadway as LBJ in Robert Schenkkan’s All The Way, and Chris O’Dowd, co-starring with James Franco in the Broadway revival of Of Mice And Men, were among the winners of Theatre World‘s 70th annual awards this morning. Kudos give the nod to outstanding Broadway and off-Broadway debuts. Also cited were Mary Bridget Davies, whose uncanny imitation of Janis Joplin recently aborted its Broadway-to-off-Broadway move, and Zachary Levi, who debuted in the Broadway tuner First Date. The Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theatre went to Celia Keenan-Bolger, Laura in the Tony-nominated revival of The Glass Menagerie. Canadian thesp Christopher Plummer got the John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement. Willis was the founder and longtime editor of Theatre World and Screen World seasonal compendia. The awards will be handed out at a June 2 ceremony at Circle In The Square Theatre. A complete list of winners follows:
