Things to do around Chicago this weekend: A Memorial Day parade, Sue?os Music Festival and Janet Jackson

There are lots of street festivals and markets this weekend, including the Randolph Street Market Festival and Mole de Mayo.

Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony and Parade

After a wreath-laying ceremony in Daley Plaza at 11 a.m., the parade kicks off with Grand Marshal Major General Rodney Boyd, who is the highest-ranking African American officer in the Illinois National Guard’s history.

Randolph Street Market Festival

This vintage and antiques flea market is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, with more than 200 vendors selling art, décor, clothes and jewelry. There will also be food and drink vendors, while live bands will perform each day to add to the festive vibes.

Mole de Mayo

This festival in the Pilsen neighborhood celebrates Latino culture and Mexican cuisine, complete with a mole cook-off. The open-air mercado will feature local artisans, crafters and merchants. Entertainment includes two stages of music, cultural performances and lucha libre wrestling that adds to the festival’s unique atmosphere.

Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival

This festival, which takes place on Sheffield Avenue in the Lakeview neighborhood, will feature local tribute bands, food, beer and wine and lots of artisans. A community entertainment stage will feature neighborhood music acts, DJs and other performers.

Sue?os Music Festival

The first big Grant Park music event of the summer is the return of Sue?os (or Dreams), a two-day lakefront bash of Latin music and Reggaeton. Headliners are Wisin Y Yandel, Nicky Jam, Grupo Firme and Feid. Sue?os is presented by the producers behind Baja Beach Fest and C3 Presents, which puts on Lollapalooza.

Janet Jackson: Together Again

The legendary Janet Jackson is out on her 10th concert tour, named after the hit single from her 1997 album “The Velvet Rope.” She’s playing the Chicago area for one night only at the newly renamed Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park.

Seal

It’s been more than 30 years since his self-titled debut album in 1991. He celebrates that album and its 1994 follow-up “Seal II” this weekend at the Chicago Theatre with guest The Buggles.

SummerSalt Market
