Thomas Rhett releases special Tennessee Vols orange vinyl: 'This was inspired by my wife'
It hasn’t even been a week since country superstar Thomas Rhett released his newest album, “Where We Started,” but he’s already released a very special edition of the record in honor of his wife … and the Tennessee Volunteers.
The vinyl edition of “Where We Started,” available at Target, was actually pressed in a beautiful, bright University of Tennessee orange color.
“This was inspired by my wife because she’s a die-hard Tennessee fan,” Rhett said in an Instagram video about Lauren Atkins. “Look at that. That’s amazing,” he chuckled while showing off the color.

Lauren Akins is a UT nursing graduate. She proudly supports her alma mater and is still active with the school. Back in 2020, she and Rhett surprised 65 UT nursing students during a virtual class.
"She’s a Vol, so I’m a Vol," Rhett told the class.
Rhett's “Where We Started” was released Friday and it's the sixth album from the Nashville-based country star. The 15-track record includes acoustic ballads and upbeat tunes for summer radio. The title track is even a duet with pop star Katy Perry.
Although he says he experienced writer’s block for several months, spending time with his four kids and wife and dealing with daily life offered a burst of creativity. So much so, that a seventh album, “Country Again, Side B,” is expected to be released later this year.
In the meantime, Rhett is headed out on a 30-date Bring the Bar to You tour with Parker McCollum and Conner Smith as opening acts. Though there are currently no performances scheduled in Tennessee, the Georgia native will be making a July stop in Atlanta.
