Timothée Chalamet and Nardwuar Link Up in New Interview
Timothée Chalamet joined the all-knowing Nardwuar for a new interview.
On the heels of playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, the 28-year-old actor joined the Human Serviette at Record Surplus in Los Angeles.
While flipping through a selection of vinyl, Chalamet and Nardwuar discussed all sorts of Bob Dylan trivia from his shift to electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, his influences and his lasting cultural impact.
Elsewhere in the interview, Chalamet talked about growing up as “Soccer Timmy,” a nickname he gained at the time he was a soccer coach at age 13 while living in France and because there were “so many Timmies” in his building.
At the 30 minute mark, Timothée discussed that infamous Lil B knighting video that resurfaced earlier this year and credited the rapper for his successful acting career.
“I met him at NYU. I had $50 from a commercial I did, I bribed a kid to give me his ticket. I was in there alone, front row to the right,” he explained. “I raised my hand, I got called on by him, I told him I was going to ask out a crush. He invited me on stage and he knighted me . And honestly, he said ‘That boy's hands been blessed’ and from there my acting career took off.”
“Thank you, Based God. I was struggling before that. Basically just done Royal Pains and then, you know, I was nominated for an Oscar by the time I was 22. Shout out Lil B. Nothing possible without Lil B, pray to the Based God,” he added.
