For months, Cruise has been gearing up to perform a skydiving stunt during the Paris Olympics’ closing ceremony on Aug. 11, the outlet reported on Thursday, Aug. 1. The big finale will reportedly see the film producer travel to great lengths to hand off the 2028 Olympic Games to the next host city — Los Angeles.

The alleged plan is to have the three-time Golden Globe award winner start by swinging from atop the State de France before reaching his first destination — the stadium's field. The official Olympic flag will be in tow the entire time, TMZ reported.

The Olympic broadcast will then cut to a two-minute, pre-recorded segment featuring Cruise traveling to his next stop via airplane as he brings the Olympic flag from France to L.A.

Next, he’ll leap out of the airplane, landing on the Hollywood sign.

The outlet shared photos of what appears to be the Top Gun: Maverick star filming the Hollywood stunt. The images are dated March 16, 2024.

The Hollywood Reporter also said another planned stunt in L.A. that would have been featured in the pre-recorded segment was pulled as LAPD was hesitant to shut down Pacific Coast Highway. Obtaining a permit with the California Coastal Commission was also a barrier.

Still, according to TMZ, there will be plenty of other impressive moments — such as Cruise passing the flag to other Olympic athletes along his way.

The lineup of champions reportedly includes a cyclist, skateboarder and volleyball player.

TMZ claimed Cruise came up with the idea and shared it with the International Olympic Committee, as the Eyes Wide Shut alum has long been a supporter of the Olympic games.

Cruise had been in Paris for the first few days of the summer games, and was first seen at the opening ceremony along the Seine river on July 26.
