Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's kids share update after parents' coronavirus diagnosis: 'They will make a full recovery'

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson “will make a full recovery,” according to their kids.

Following the news that the couple tested positive for the coronavirus and are quarantined in Australia, where the two-time Oscar winner has been filming an Elvis Presley biopic, children Colin Hanks, Elizabeth Hanks and Chet Hanks are speaking out to allay worry about the Hollywood power couple.

Jumanji actor Colin, 42, used Instagram to thank people for their “outpouring of support” and promised that “my parents are receiving excellent care in Australia.” They are “doing well” and “in good spirits,” he said, adding, “given the circumstances.”

Colin, whose message was in typewriter font (Tom’s fave), went on to share that he hasn’t seen his father and stepmother in “over three weeks” because he’s home in Los Angeles, where he lives with wife Samantha Bryant and their two kids, but assured, “We have been in constant contact and [I] am confident that they will make a full recovery.”

Elizabeth, who is also from Hanks’s first marriage, shared a similar message about the “excellent care” they are getting and their “good spirits” amid the health worry. The 37-year-old writer, whose pen name is E. A. Hanks, ended with a political message, writing, “P.S. Healthcare is a human right.”

And 29-year-old Chet also weighed in — in the most Chet-like way.

Posting from New Orleans, a shirtless Chet shared a video about the “crazy” news. He said he just got off the phone with them and “they both are fine” and “they’re not even that sick.”

“They’re not worried about it,” he continued. “They’re not trippin’ but they’re going through the necessary precautions obviously… I appreciate everyone’s concern and well wishes, but I think it’s all going to be alright.”

Tom and Rita are also parents to son Truman, 24. All four of their children from their combined brood were on hand at the Golden Globes in January when Tom was given the Cecil B. DeMille award. (In his speech, he referred to his “five” children, as he also considers his daughter-in-law, Samatha, a daughter.)

Tom shared the news about their diagnosis on Wednesday night — and it quickly went global as he’s one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors and they are a favorite couple.

Rita shared a similar message on her page — and did prove to be in good spirits, as her kids said. One of her posts made a quip about being on a “coronavirus vacation.”

The couple has been Down Under for the pre-production of Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley film from Warner Bros. Tom is playing Presley’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker, in the project.

Warner Bros. released a statement saying the company is “working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with” Hanks.

Meanwhile, Wilson — a musician in addition to actor — played gigs at the Sydney Opera House and in Brisbane. The Opera House staff was helping authorities track "approximately 207 people" who "may have been in contact with the couple" at the concert on Saturday.

According to Agence France-Presse, the couple is in “hospital isolation” at the Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland, where they were "in a stable condition,” per Queensland state health officials.

Celebrities have been among those reacting to the news, including Tom’s Toy Story co-star Tim Allen, who sent a message to Woody from Buzz Lightyear.

Reese Witherspoon commented on Tom’s post, “Please take care💕.”

Jack Black wrote, “Sending love.”

Marlon Wayans put, “DAMN YOU TOM!!! You always gotta be first. First Emmy winner, first Oscar winner, first Hollywood Coronavirus. That one was mine damn it! Curses 🤬 😂 get well soon brother. I love you tremendously. Praying for you and wifey. Always my nizzle.”

Hanks and Wilson are the first major Hollywood stars to publicly state that they have virus that has sickened nearly than 130,000 people worldwide and killed more than 4,700.
