Top 5 Presidential Address Punchlines From Late-Night TV

Donald Trump addressed Congress on Tuesday night for the first time during his presidency. On Wednesday night, all the late-night talk show hosts skewered Trump’s speech.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy took shots at Trump for not making people down more shots during his speech. Jimmy said, “He didn’t trash the media or brag about winning the election. It was the first time people playing the Trump drinking game ended up sober.”

Conan O’Brien talked about some surprising weather around the world lately, pointing out that Antarctica just recorded its highest temperature in history, and Hawaii had a blizzard warning. Conan added, “And to top it off, Donald Trump gave a speech and sounded reasonable.”

People on both sides of the aisle were praising Trump for, surprisingly, sounding presidential. On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert pointed out that it wasn’t the first time that had happened. Stephen said, “Getting raves for being surprisingly presidential is nothing new. I mean, look at this 1863 review of the Gettysburg Address,” and then an image of an old newspaper popped up that read, “I like that four score and seven years ago thing. Plus, he didn’t stop once to mock the disabled.”
