As the shortest month, February is known for flying by, but this year, for some reason, it seems to have gone faster. Now that we’re at the end of it and the beginning of March, there are some fun things happening in and around the Ancient City, so get out there and take advantage of all the entertainment opportunities that are available.

Limelight Theatre: ‘August: Osage County’
Called a “tragicomedy” play, “August: Osage County” won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2008. The play deals with a father who has vanished, a drugged-up mother, and sisters who each have their own secrets as the family reunites after the father disappears. It’s both dramatic and funny as the family confronts their loss and each other.

St. Augustine Country Festival & Craft Beer Fest
Head to Francis Field on Saturday, Feb. 26, to celebrate all things country at this all-day festival that features exhibits, crafts, family activities, craft beer, fashions, a kids’ corner and contests. The festival starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. and the Craft Beer Fest is from 3-6 p.m.

‘On the Road’ at WB Tatter Studio Gallery
The opening reception for an exhibit of works by artist Rosamond Parrish is scheduled for 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at the WB Tatter Studio Gallery. Parrish is known for her watercolors, and this show features paintings she did while on a road trip. She’s an award-winning artist and the founder of Jacksonville Watercolor Society, and in 2020 she published “St. Augustine – A Sketchbook.” Her exhibit will run through March 6.

Country music singer-songwriter Jake Owen will entertain at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Thursday, March 3, with fellow country singers Connor Smith and Drew Parker. A Florida native, Owen’s hits include “Made For You,” “Homemade” and “I Was Jack,” and his album “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”

Nocatee kayak trips
What better way to enjoy the improving weather and learn about the Intracoastal Waterway ecosystem and salt marsh habitats than to take a kayak trip led by a St. Johns County naturalist? The tours run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 3-6, starting from the Palm Valley Boat Ramp. Reservations are required, and you can bring your own kayak or rent one from the county.
