September isn't a quiet month in Delaware this year.
Concert and festival lovers can dive into several events this month. Here's a taste of the entertainment options that are on the menu.
Kid 'N Play bring house party to Wilmington
There's nothing like attending a big house party with a couple hundred people in the Small Wonder. But have you partied it up in a Delaware library with a pair of '90s rap legends?
If you haven’t yet, you might get the opportunity when hip-hop icons Kid 'N Play visit the Wilmington Public Library for a free 21-and-older event on Friday, Sept. 6.
This event is standing-room-only and is first come, first served. The Kid 'N Play's event will have a party atmosphere with the icons on stage from 6 to 7:30 p.m. But that's not all. DJ Kaotic will keep the party jumping for the rest of the night as guests dance and mingle with one another. Finger food and a selection of alcoholic beverages will be served at this exclusive event.

Indiafest, Newark
Revelers are headed to the Bob Carpenter Center to ring in the 40th annual Indiafest. The event, presented by Indo American Association of Delaware, features food, a bazaar, dancing and music. The cultural show runs from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and costs $10. There’s also a performance by Bollywood singer Jeffrey Iqbal and concert doors open at 6:30 p.m. Those concert tickets are $60.

Sip & Stroll at Brandywine Zoo, Wilmington
Parents can unleash a little bit of their wild side as they wet their lips with cold drinks at the family-friendly Sip & Stroll at Brandywine Zoo. This happy-hour event includes craft beer from Dogfish Head and Bellefonte Brewing, plus wine, hard cider/seltzer. Each Sip features a local food vendor and unique table vendors to check out. Drink and food purchases are sold separately. The zoo's concession stand will also have nonalcoholic drinks and snacks.

Jeezy, Wilmington
One of the most influential Southern rappers over the last 20 years is Georgia's own Jeezy. The rapper, who some consider a pioneer of trap music, dominated during the mid and late 2000s. He's known for releasing several big tunes like "Put On," "I Luv It" and "All There."

Wine & Jazz Festival, concerts: More coming to Longwood Gardens this fall 2024
Weedstock, Townsend
Three days of smoking weed, live music, arts vendors and munchies will be on tap at the seventh annual Weedstock.
The tagline for the event is "bring your own bud," which is mentioned on the festival’s Brown Paper Tickets page. That’s another form of "BYOB" that gives folks the green light to spark up. But guests can't bring their young kids to the festival, as this event is strictly for ages 21 or older.

Bowling for Soup, Wilmington
The '90s pop-punk band Bowling for Soup has a habit of throwing strikes with their infectious melodies and sugar-coated songs that have whipped Warped Tour lovers into a frenzy. Some of the band's notable songs include "1985," "Girl All the Bad Guys Want" and "High School Never Ends."

Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest, Ogletown
Folks will get their fix of bratwurst and potato pancakes at Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest, the state's premier Oktoberfest event. The three-day event opens with a parade. Other festivities over the weekend include German cuisine like Weisswurst (veal sausage), potato salad, Rollmops (marinated herring serving with bread), plum cake and other dishes.
There will be amusement rides (admission into the fest gives unlimited rides), Bavarian dance group the Enzian Volkstanzgruppe, imported gifts and souvenirs for purchase, and more fun at Oktoberfest.
Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest is in contention for best Oktoberfest in USA TODAY 10 Best Readers' Choice 2024.
Delaware Saengerbund and Library Association (49 Salem Church Road, Ogletown) from 5-11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22. Admission is $10. Parking is at Christiania High School (0.7 miles south of the festival) and is $5 on Friday and Saturday, free on Sunday. A free shuttle is available to and from the festival. Todd Barry, Wilmington
Comedian Todd Barry has released a handful of stand-up specials, the latest being "Domestic Shorthair" 2023. He's made appearances on "Chappelle's Show," Bob’s Burgers," "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," "Late Night with Conan O’Brien," "The Howard Stern Show" and other popular programs.

AJ Collier and the Band of Believers, Wilmington
A night of positive vibes, praise and worship will be on tap as AJ Collier and the Band of Believers deliver their seventh anniversary and reunion concert, featuring special guest Melvin Crispell III and Vincent Bohanan and Sov.

Historic New Castle Belgian Beer Festival
There's a lot of excitement brewing this fall, and the Historic New Castle Belgian Beer Festival is one of the culprits. The event will serve newly imported Belgian beers to the United States that are being served for the first time at the Delaware festival, according to the event's website. The site lists 30 beverages such as Gouden Carolus, Kerel and Chimay.

Delaware Taco Festival, Wilmington
The power of tacos couldn't be limited to just Tuesday or Thursday, which is why foodies are encouraged to bring a big appetite to the Delaware Taco Festival held Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29.
This year's event features over 25 taco and food vendors dishing out $4 tacos (sold in voucher sheets of 5 for $20). Taco vouchers can be purchased throughout the festival grounds at taco stations in exchange for all food items, according to the festival's EventBrite page.
The Taco Festival will also include a giant Margarita bar, lucha libre wrestling, Hot Chili Pepper Eating Contest, kids zone, ax-throwing trailer and more.
