Tori Spelling Calls Out the ‘Haters’ in a 5th Grade Graduation Picture With Her Son Finn

Being in the public eye opens you up to criticism. Especially as a mom! So it’s no surprise that Tori Spelling had to brace herself when she shared a new picture of her son Finn’s 5^th grade graduation. The Beverly Hills, 90210 actress addressed the “haters” in a new picture, and we don’t blame her one bit.

“And, just like that I have a 5th grade graduate …” Spelling wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. She stands behind Finn, looking chic in a blue-and-silver gown with silver necklaces and her blonde hair up that matches the blue backdrop with silver “2024” balloons. “Finn Davey I’m so proud of you! Bye elementary school and hello middle school. I love you chat!”

Finn is front in the center in the picture — wearing dirty sneakers, black shorts, and a blue-and-white baseball tee that says “Finn” on one side and “Class of 2024” on the other. His long brown hair hangs in curls to his shoulders, as he gives a slight smirk and two thumbs up for the picture.

Anyone with a pre-teen knows that they are going to dress how they want to dress — no matter how much their parents may urge them to look a little nicer. So Spelling shouldn’t even have to defend his outfit, but she does offer an explanation in the caption: “Disclaimer to the haters : Dress code was shorts FYI bc they had student/teacher kickball aka sports day right b4.”

People in the comments were super supportive. “HE LOOKS GREAT FFS!!!.. LIKE A HAPPY KID SHOULD!! ??????” one person commented. Someone else said, “Congratulations, Finn!! ?? keep focused and forget the haters, and you will go far. The sky ?? is the limit!!”

“Why do people need to comment on how other people’s kids are dressed?!? He’s clean and wearing shoes, he’s FINE,” someone else said. Another person wrote, “It’s sad that you have to do a disclaimer for the haters. He’s a kid and should wear and look however he feels comfortable wearing.” Exactly!

Spelling shares 11-year-old Finn and kids Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, and Beau, 7, with ex Dean McDermott. McDermott is also dad to son Jack, 25, from a previous relationship. On an episode of her misSPELLING podcast in May, Spelling opened up about how she spent her “first Mother’s Day, single, going through a divorce, with [her] 5 kids,” per PEOPLE.

After explaining that she always had to plan Mother’s Day celebrations in the past and “was always on edge,” Spelling revealed that her daughter Stella planned a tea party for her mom. Afterward, the kids took Spelling to get a piercing — and Hattie and Beau got their ears pierced too!
