‘The Traitors 3’ Episode 6: ‘One of the greatest reality competition players of all time’ takes a stand
Previously in The Traitors Season 3 turret, tensions between the supposed-to-be allies Carolyn Wiger, Danielle Reyes, and Rob Mariano were just small-time disagreements (like whether or not to kill another Housewife). But when we last left off with them in Episode 5, Carolyn had just been informed that Danielle was actively throwing her name around as a play to get her banished, so that she could recruit a new Traitor to take down Rob. Could the three gamers keep the family together through one more vote, or did they burn the whole castle down?
Here is our breakdown of The Traitors Season 3, Episode 6, titled “A Dysfunctional Family,” which streamed on Peacock on Thursday, Jan. 30. The 15 celebrities still alive at the start of the episode were: Bob Harper, Britney Haynes, Carolyn Wiger, Chrishell Stause, Ciara Miller, Danielle Reyes, Derrick Levasseur, Dolores Catania, Dylan Efron, Gabby Windey, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Rob Mariano, Sam Asghari, Tom Sandoval, and Wes Bergmann. Alan Cumming hosts the program.

“To make sure you’re safe with Boston Rob, is to let him have the power” — Danielle Reyes
Out of the gate, Carolyn confessed to Rob and Danielle that because of their deception around the castle, she only wants to murder them, and then was gobsmacked when Danielle replied that they are “like a family.” Danielle apologized to Carolyn and vowed to “make it right tomorrow” if they could all agree to put it in the past and move on. A reluctant Carolyn said “we’ll see” and allowed the conversation to move toward their realistic options for the next kill. Rob suggested that “Wes is definitely a threat” and it’s dangerous to keep him in the game, but Danielle and Carolyn thought killing him would make everyone look at Rob. His next thought was Bob H. because he’s an “imminent threat” for throwing Rob’s name out. Eventually they seemed to agree with Danielle that Ivar is the best option because he is believed by most to be a Faithful and “nobody’s ever gonna banish him.”

As Sam suggested at the previous Round Table, all eyes were on the door to see if Rob would walk in to breakfast the next morning. Derrick pointed out that “if he is a Faithful and he’s that good” to have gotten Bob the Drag Queen out then he “doesn’t care how it looks as a Traitor, I’m murdering him.” As it turns out, Rob arrived still alive, but Bob H. did not. Once again, Danielle and Carolyn allowed Rob to get his wish in the turret and went along with his feeling to remove the “imminent threat” that Bob H. was to Rob’s own game.
After breakfast, things only heated up more for Rob when Derrick pulled Wes in for another chat and urged him to help pull the trigger on him “sooner rather than later.” While Derrick was convinced that Rob is certainly a Traitor, Wes was worried that if they’re wrong about it that it will put them in the hot seat because of the “new guy theory.” Meanwhile, Britney provided Carolyn another reason to distrust Danielle by telling her that Carolyn said she sees Britney as one of her top suspects.

“I don’t want you to be nervous to say this because I don’t think any of it’ll make sense” — Dolores Catania
For this week’s mission, Alan had the players divide into groups to go on a search through the forest for crates full of gunpowder. To open the 20 locked crates they’d have to answer number-based questions; if correct, they’d collect the gunpowder inside of it. If after 30 minutes they had collected enough to topple a large Traitor statue then they’d earn $30,000 to add to the prize pot. To complicate things, three of the crates contained shields that could be taken by anyone for protection from murder.
All three groups prioritized the shields over gunpowder, resulting in them all being collected. Carolyn pissed Tom off by snatching their shield for herself while the other two groups used rock, paper, scissors to decide that Dylan and Chrishell received theirs. After securing the shields, the groups hustled to to collect gunpowder and very narrowly added enough to successfully complete the mission and earn the money.
After the mission, Derrick used the lunch house to move through the rooms slowly amassing an army of loyalists willing to follow his lead at the Round Table against Rob. Curiously, when Britney came to Derrick with whispers of Wes saying that’s what Derrick is doing, it made her think that Wes was the Traitor and Derrick think that Britney is a Traitor. Without knowing it, Britney was actually furthering a plan Rob was attempting to put into action, which was to get people to banish Wes.

“You guys, when you denied him access to this castle, created that monster” — Derrick Levasseur
At the Round Table, Tom stepped up to voice one of his many theories that Dolores is his prime suspect, but there wasn’t much life to his accusation and she retorted that she thinks he’s a “bad Faithful” which makes him worse than a Traitor. Derrick quickly switched gears by laying out his case against Rob — including his certainty that Bob D.Q. was a Traitor and being right about it, Bob D.Q. throwing his last vote at Rob, and then Bob H. getting murdered the night he spoke up against Rob at the Round Table. In his defense, Rob said that someone smart must be a Traitor because they kept him and Ivar alive last night in order to create the dichotomy of a believed Faithful and a dangerous player both not killed. He said that he heard four names throughout the day and that they all came from Wes, who he sees as the smartest player in the game.
To defend himself, Wes returned to the mission where Bob D.Q. announced that the group should go for one of the three new guys and pointed out that it’s the same day that Rob made the case against Bob after saying to both Wes and Derrick that they have to go after Bob because of him putting them in the hot seat. Gabby and Chrishell stood up for Rob by speaking to the way that Wes plays by applying pressure to people in a group setting to throw out names. Wes really stepped into it when he, supposedly asking for forgiveness, said that he will be less aggressive going forward, but then threatened anyone that dares to vote for him.
Carolyn surprised the room when she spoke up to defend Wes, calling out that he was “clearly being used as a scapegoat.” Carolyn’s point was that the room was rallying behind Rob for saying Wes is causing chaos, but she believes that it’s Danielle letting Wes go down for the chaos she creates. She explained that she heard from multiple people that Danielle is throwing her name out and announced that when Jeremy warned her about Danielle she told Danielle and then Jeremy was murdered. Danielle said that Carolyn was making the game personal with her argument, prompting Derrick to bring the conversation back around with a warning that they vote off of facts instead of emotion and go for Rob.

Despite Derrick’s pleas, the majority of votes were against Wes from Dylan, Sam, Ivar, Rob, Chrishell, Britney, and Ciara. Five people voted for Rob, including Danielle who must have thought the votes were on her side in order to make such a bold decision. Wes was no less aggressive in unveiling himself as a true Faithful, announcing to the group that he’s “one of the greatest reality competition players of all time” and “quantitatively better” than all of them before flipping them off and making his exit.
Later in the turret, Danielle admitted to Rob that her paranoia about the other Traitors started when he turned on Bob D.Q. and then confessed to Carolyn that when she told Britney that she was coming for her she was referring to when Carolyn wanted to murder her from the turret. Rob was shocked at how truly dysfunctional they’ve become, but Carolyn said plainly that all they can do is “go after Danielle.”
