Travis Scott Brought ‘Days Before Rodeo’ Full Circle At Spotify 10th Anniversary Concert

Travis Scott returned to Atlanta for the 10th anniversary of Days Before Rodeo as the fan-favorite mixtape hit streaming services. Last week (Aug. 18) marked a full decade since the southern Hip-Hop project laid the foundation for the Houston rapper’s superstardom.

Partnering Cactus Jack with Spotify, the event brought approximately 1500 ragers, an intimate crowd for a Travis Scott show, to the city’s Masquerade venue as a reminder of how ATL’s rap scene influenced the Houston native’s innovation.

Standout features on the mixtape are key players in Atlanta’s rap scene then and now, with moments from Migos, Young Thug, Peewee Longway, Rich Homie Quan, and T.I. At the time, Scott was signed with T.I.’s label, Grand Hustle Records. The verse from Tip in “Quintana Pt. 2” is not featured in the new streaming update.

As if it were actually 2014, Scott announced the occasion on Tumblr. Tickets were also blasted through Spotify’s Fan First Presale, which sold out immediately. Guests at the show arrived in groups ready to mosh, however, fans who wanted to savor the mixtape without bumping bodies were allowed upstairs access to peer down at the stage. By 10:30 p.m. ET, the Masquerade was full of anxious rap fans, some not knowing what to expect in the setlist as they were still angsty teens when Days Before Rodeo dropped, and others craving a nostalgic night out, reminding them of their prime.

With Chase B on the turntables, La Flame’s grand entrance drew near. Once the 33-year-old entered center stage, closer to midnight, the party did not take a break. While smiling ear-to-ear proudly in front of his biggest supporters, Scott took the stage reflecting on his time in Atlanta, making music and being inspired creatively.

“I remember I worked on this album out here, I drove like a sprinter van,” reflected Scott, also paying tribute to Virgil Abloh. “We came down to the A. I was working on this album and I told myself I’m gonna do this album fast and I want to put it out quick. I wasn’t able to put it out officially, but I was like, ‘I gotta just get this out to the world.’ Shoutout to all the day ones that’s in this motherf**ker right now.”

At the show, merchandise calling to “Free Thugger” sold out as Chase B led the call. The crowd erupted in bursts of Free Thugger chants. Some attendees also pulled “Free Thugger” hoodies over their t-shirts, purchasing them onsite at the merch booth. Young Thug has been jailed since May 2022 and remains behind bars in a seemingly never-ending R.I.C.O. trial. Travis Scott also performed Young Thug’s verse in “Skyfall” calling it “the hardest verse ever.”

Still, the ASTROWORLD performer was not left to rage alone. Continuing the Travis Scott and Atlanta connection, the lone guest to join Scott on stage was Quavo, as the two performed “Sloppy Toppy” from the Days Before Rodeo mixtape.

Additional highlights from the concert include Travis Scott stepping out of his shoes and gifting them to a fan in the audience — continuing the show in only socks — the first-time ever performances of “Mo City Flexologist” “Yeah Yeah” and “Too Many Chances,” and custom merchandise branded with the night’s theme.

From the mixtape, fan-favorite tracks “Mamacita” and “Drugs You Should Try It” resulted in a seismic uproar. He also kept the concert refreshing, incorporating new tracks into the setlist. “Topia Twins,”  “Type Sh*t” and a back-to-back “FE!N” performance kept the audience in awe. While the show was billed as one-night-only, Travis Scott teased a Days Before Rodeo tour, calling the mixtape some of the “best songs on the planet.”
