The Treeline Music Fest took a major step toward fulfilling its 2023 lineup Friday, announcing nearly 20 artists and offering festivalgoers a sense of the day-by-day offerings ahead of Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in Stephens Lake Park. The festival formerly known as Roots N Blues will gain a spark from youthful yet already-established artists and will — per usual — feature a great deal of Missouri talent.

Here's a look at the latest additions:

More: Salt-N-Pepa, Robert Cray and Japanese Breakfast form half of Treeline fest's headliners

Friday: Muna, Ethel Cain and more

Friday night's lineup is bolstered by the addition of indie-pop dynamos Muna, a trio with three records under its collective belt, including last year's self-titled effort, which Pitchfork noted saw the band step "fully into their role as pop stars and mentors, offering gentle instructions for falling in love, dusting yourself off, and joyfully living your truth."

Muna has more than earned the headliner treatment, honing its chops on tours alongside Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and Kacey Musgraves.

Also appearing Friday: Ethel Cain, who crafts a beautifully haunting sort of roots rock; Lonesome Companions; and The Quorus, which bills itself as "Columbia's lgbtqqa-z Community Choir." These artists join previously-announced headliner, the venerable bluesman Robert Cray.

Saturday: Devon Gilfillian and local love

Saturday's lineup will feature soulful rising star Devon Gilfillian; Mississippi-based country trio Chapel Hart; mid-Missouri native turned Nashville mainstay Halle Kearns; local rockers Post Sex Nachos; Kansas City stalwarts Katy Guillen and the Drive; and the charismatic, funky pop of Columbia's Rochara Knight and the Honey Doves.

These acts will slot in nicely next to previously-announced headliners and rap icons Salt-N-Pepa.

Sunday: Sierra Ferrell, Noah Cyrus and more

Sunday will be a day worth sticking around for, with the addition of West Virginia native and headliner Sierra Ferrell and pop luminary Noah Cyrus.

Ferrell has brought a real spark to roots music by "showcas(ing) her winsomely nimble, bluesy voice on a spirited, idiosyncratic blend of country, jazz, folk, and blues," AllMusic noted.

Cyrus — yes, the sister of Miley, and daughter of Billy Ray — dropped her full-length debut, "The Hardest Part," last year, garnering strong reviews; Rolling Stone dubbed it "a compact yet emotionally resonant collection of Laurel Canyon-recalling pop."

Cyrus, who received a best new artist Grammy nomination in 2021 on strength of several prior EPs, has also appeared on "Hannah Montana" and lent her voice talent to the title character in the English version of director Hayao Miyazaki's animated gem "Ponyo."

Noah Cyrus performs on the American Express Stage during day one of weekend two of Austin City Limits Music Festival on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022.
