A Tribute to 'The Bullwinkle Show' Voice Actress June Foray
June Foray, the voice actress behind such characters as Rocky the Flying Squirrel from The Bullwinkle Show and Granny from Looney Tunes, has died. She was 99 years old, just two months away from her hundredth birthday.
Foray’s death was confirmed late Wednesday night by her close friend Dave Nimitz, who posted on Facebook, “With a heavy heart again I want to let you all know that we lost our little June today at 99 years old she is resting peacefully now.”
While she is best known for her role as Rocky, Foray also voiced the character of Natasha on The Bullwinkle Show, as well as Witch Hazel and Granny from the Looney Tunes cartoons. She even voiced the iconic Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
In 2012, Foray won a Daytime Emmy for her performance as Mrs. Cauldron on The Garfield Show. Foray also founded the Annie Awards, which recognize achievements in animation, and she lobbied to have animated films recognized by the Academy Awards and was instrumental to the creation of the Award for Best Animated Feature in 2001.
Rest in peace, June Foray.
