TV on the Radio, Faith No More Members Form Nevermen Supergroup, Share ‘Tough Towns’ Song
TV on the Radio is still on the road supporting its 2014 album Seeds, but singer Tunde Adebimpe just announced an intriguing new side project. Only they’re not actually that new, and he probably wouldn’t want the band to be framed around him.

They’re called Nevermen and they refer to themselves as a “leaderless trio,” according to a recent interview with Rolling Stone. The band consists of Adebimpe, Faith No More frontman Mike Patton and rapper/Anticon Records co-founder Doseone. On Wednesday (Aug. 5), they shared their first song — a free-form genre-hopping track called “Tough Towns.” Check it out below:
We say “free-form” in the sense that it opens with a chant of “Go Pittsburgh!” and includes references to Cleveland, Indianapolis and Omaha across its spoken word runs and sung, harmonic passages. “‘Tough Towns’ is dedicated to anyone remotely young, feeling inexplicably inspired in the ‘nowhere’ they are from… “May you soon escape with style into elsewhere, “says Doseone, a native of the bustling metropolis of Napa, Idaho, who also grew up in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.

And again, the trio isn’t new; they came together in 2008 and only recently finished up the 10 songs that will make up their self-titled debut. It’s due this October via Patton’s Ipecac Recordings.
