Tyla’s highlighted brunette waves were styled with braids, while her makeup consisted of sparkly eye shadow, winged eyeliner and a glossy ombre lip.
Speaking to host Kelly Clarkson, Tyla discussed her viral Balmain dress at the 2024 Met Gala, which was molded with sand.
“I was so excited to be invited to the Met,” Tyla said. “Me and my mom watch it every year, so when I found out I was like, ‘There’s no way we’re playing safe. We have to go insane for this look,’ and Balmain sent a sketch.…I didn’t understand it at first, I thought it was going to look like a nude dress. Then they sent samples and everything and I fell in love.”
The singer’s dress, which took 200 hours to complete, was so heavy that she needed to be carried up the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s iconic steps. She also carried an hourglass purse, signifying the gala’s “Garden of Time” theme.
