Uma Thurman Joins Cast Of 87North & Gulfstream Pictures’ ‘Ballerina Overdrive’
EXCLUSIVE: Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill) has joined the cast of the indie action feature Ballerina Overdrive from 87North and Gulfstream Pictures.
She joins previously announced stars Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, Millicent Simmonds, Maddie Ziegler and Avantika. Previously attached stars Lena Headey, Yara Shahidi and Isabela Merced have since departed the project. Jenny Jue cast the film, which is currently in production in Budapest.

From Vicky Jewson, who is directing from a script by Kate Freund, Ballerina Overdrive follows a troupe of ballerinas who find themselves fighting for survival as they attempt to escape from a remote inn after their bus breaks down on the way to a dance competition.
Kelly McCormick and David Leitch (The Fall Guy, Bullet Train) produce through their 87North banner with Bill Bindley and Mike Karz for Gulfstream Pictures alongside Piers Tempest. Gulfstream Pictures (Upgraded, One Fast Move) fully financed the project. Max Jacoby is supervising for 87North.
CAA Media Finance is handling domestic sales, with Vincent Maraval and Kim Fox’s The Veterans handling international sales.
Thurman received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of “Mia Wallace” in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and, as Tarantino’s muse, she garnered Golden Globe Award nominations for her role as “The Bride” in the “Kill Bill” film franchise. She received her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her arc on the NBC series Smash.
Upcoming, Thurman will star opposite Richard Gere and Jacob Elordi in Paul Schrader’s Oh, Canada, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and will be released in theaters in December. Next up, Thurman will star in the Netflix film The Old Guard 2 opposite Charlize Theron which is expected to be released in 2025.
Last year, Thurman starred in Prime Video’s Emmy-nominated feature film Red, White and Royal Blue which was released globally on August 11th which was recently greenlit for a sequel. She also starred in the comedy thriller The Kill Room where she reunited with her Pulp Fiction co-star Samuel L. Jackson.
She is repped by Untitled Entertainment, CAA, Jonathan Sanders & Co and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
