'Uniquely beautiful experience' coming to the Peoria Civic Center this year

Fans of Nickelodeon’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” will be able to relive the show’s most popular scenes in a new way.

Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert” is coming to the Peoria Civic Center Theater for a show at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23. The performance will meld iconic scenes from the series with music from a live orchestra.

Customers can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster or at the Toyota Box Office, which operates from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Fridays. Non-resale tickets on Ticketmaster range from $54.10 to $193.70 after service and order processing fees.

"It’s been incredibly satisfying and moving to see the audiences’ emotional response to these concerts, and to be a part of that atmosphere is a uniquely beautiful experience,” said Jeremy Zuckerman, the composer and musician who created the music for the original show.

Zuckerman worked with the show’s creators “to expand the series original compositions,” according to a press release. The tour’s website states the performance will last for two and a half hours, including intermission.

The show, which began in 2005, has received a Peabody Award and other recognition.
