'Unprecedented:' New documentary to provide behind-the-scenes look at Melania Trump
The once and future First Lady Melania Trump is the subject of a new documentary from director Brett Ratner.
She will be an executive producer on the project, which was recently licensed by Amazon Prime Video for streaming and a movie theater release later this year, a company spokesperson said Monday.
It's unclear how much of the documentary will be filmed in Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump and her husband President-elect Donald Trump reside at their Mar-a-Lago club.
The documentary began filming last month, the Amazon spokesperson said.
"Prime Video will be sharing more details on the project as filming progresses and release plans are finalized," the spokesperson said. "We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world."
The documentary will provide an "unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at First Lady Melania Trump," the Amazon spokesperson said.
That look into Trump's life will coincide with her husband's Jan. 20 inauguration and return to the White House for his second term. It also comes on the heels of Trump's best-selling memoir "Melania," which was released last year by Skyhorse Publishing.
Fernando Sulichin of New Element Media will serve as producer on the film alongside Melania Trump, Amazon's spokesperson said.
Melania Trump, 54, remained largely out of the spotlight throughout her husband's most recent presidential campaign. She famously values her privacy, and in her memoir discussed how she worked to shield Barron, the couple's son, from the spotlight during her husband's first term.
This is the first feature film project for Ratner since 2017, following allegations of sexual misconduct against him, which his attorneys denied. He previously directed blockbuster films including "Rush Hour," "Rush Hour 2," "Red Dragon" and "X-Men: The Last Stand."
Ratner has been spotted recently at Mar-a-Lago, Semafor reported. The filmmaker on Dec. 23 posted a photo to his Instagram account of himself in Palm Beach.
