'This Is Us' reveals there's even more to Jack's story
We only had two days to recover from Jack Pearson’s death after the Super Bowl, so we were still in heavy mourning as This Is Us took us through Jack’s funeral.
To spread his ashes, Rebecca took Randall, Kevin, and Kate out to Jack’s favorite tree, where Rebecca told the boys, “You know neither of you has to be the man of the house now, right? You’re two 17-year-olds, OK? Your only job from now on, your only job is to go on dates and hang out with your friends and your sister, and I wouldn’t protest if you wanted to do a load of laundry every now and then.” She then turned to Kate, who had been internally beating herself up over her father’s death the entire episode. “Kate, sweetheart, I know no matter what I say, no matter what anybody else says, you’re gonna blame yourself for your father going back in the house to get Louie,” Rebecca said. She continued, “Listen to me. Because it was not your fault. Do you hear me? He was a grown man, Kate, who made a choice. And if I have to spend the rest of my life making sure that you know that, I will.” It was a heartbreaking scene as Rebecca and Kevin then began to spread Jack’s ashes around the tree, because we’re all still having a hard time saying goodbye.
Fortunately for us, this is not the end of Jack. In the preview of what’s to come, This Is Us teased a look at Jack’s life long before “The Big Three.”
Even Milo Ventimiglia tweeted, “Just so everyone knows it….#JackPearson lives in all of our hearts. He’s you. He’s me. He’s Us. Thank you all for supporting our show. We love you all And this isn’t the end of Jack. Stay tuned.”

And fans are beyond relieved. One person tweeted, “Yeah I think #ThisIsUs nation is going to need the Olympic break to recover from THOSE two episodes TWO nights apart. Good scheduling call.”

"hmmm how many punches to the gut can I fit in two episodes?"

We may have to wait three weeks for new episodes, but we definitely need that time to recover.
