Usher Is Bringing His ‘Rendezvous in Paris’ to Theaters With Concert Film
La Seine Musicale in Paris was Usher’s musical home for nearly two weeks in 2023 as the musician completed a headlining residency in the City of Love. The career-spanning performance was captured for the concert film Usher: Rendezvous in Paris, set to be released in theaters internationally beginning Sept. 12.
The official trailer for the film is set to the sound of “OMG,” his chart-topping 2010 collabroation with Will.i.am. “City of Lights, I came here to find something drifting on a river I cannot control,” Usher says in the preview. The minute-long clip captures footage from the most extravagant moments of the Paris residency, from flashy costumes to slick choreography, that are heading to the big screen.

“Paris was a special experience for me as an entertainer and for my fans,” Usher said in a statement. “I hope those who weren’t able to make it in person get to experience how special it was. As for those of you who were, I hope you experience the show and see what it takes to get there through a different lens.”
The concert film will be screened in 2,000 theaters globally, with around half of those locations being in the United States, through Sept. 15, with tickets going on sale beginning Aug. 6. Directed by Anthony Mandler, the captured performance highlighted some of Usher’s biggest hits, including “Yeah!”, “My Boo”, “Love in This Club” and more. The Paris residency took place during Paris Fashion Week, bringing in a star-studded audience that included Cher, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, Pharrell Williams, and more.
Rendezvous in Paris marks the latest concert event to be released in the U.S. and globally by Trafalgar Releasing, in partnership with AMC Theatres Distribution. The distributors were also behind the release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé last year.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Sony Music Vision and AMC Theatres Distribution to bring the energy of Usher to movie theater audiences around the world,” Marc Allenby, CEO, Trafalgar Releasing, said in a statement. “He is the perfect artist to support our shared vision of creating global experiences around concert films for artists that advance the evolution of the cinema into venues for all forms of entertainment.”
AMC Theatres Chairman and CEO Adam Aron added: “For 30 years Usher has captivated and entertained audiences through his music and concerts. Just a few months ago, he drew rave reviews for his stunning performance in front of 129 million people during the Super Bowl Half Time Show. Bringing his unparalleled concert experience to movie theaters for his fans around the world is a perfect fit for AMC Theatres Distribution.”
The theatrical release of Rendezvous in Paris will briefly overlap with Usher’s 2024 Past Present Future tour, which will make stops throughout North America from August through November.
