Usher Postpones Additional Set of Shows Due to Neck Injury: 'Doctors Have Instructed Me Not to Perform'

Usher is making sure he's at his best before kicking off his Past Present Future Tour.

A day after postponing the first show of his highly anticipated tour, the singer, 45, announced that he would need to postpone two additional performances scheduled for Friday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 17, to recover from a neck injury.

"Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest USHER show of all time," he wrote in his lengthy Instagram statement on Thursday, Aug. 15.

"My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night," he continued. "Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week."

The eight-time Grammy winner guaranteed his fans he was on track for a speedy recovery.

"The good news is that the doctors are saying that with appropriate rest and treatment, I should be ready to commence the tour in Washington DC on August 20th," his statement read. "I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this injury must be healed so that I can give you the 100% excellence that you expect from an USHER show and that I will be on stage in your city very soon."

The statement ended with Usher informing his fans that the three shows, initially scheduled at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, have already been rescheduled for Dec. 9, Dec. 10 and Dec. 12.

Usher announced he would go on the career-spanning tour weeks after ending his My Way: The Las Vegas Residency run.

Days later, he released his ninth studio album, Coming Home, and performed at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show.

His upcoming concert film, USHER: RENDEZVOUS IN PARIS, will be released in roughly 2,000 theaters worldwide between Thursday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 15.

“Paris was a special experience for me as an entertainer and for my fans. I hope those who weren’t able to make it in person get to experience how special it was," he said in a press release statement. "As for those of you who were, I hope you experience the show and see what it takes to get there through a different lens."
