Would Valerie Bertinelli get married a 3rd time? What she told Drew Barrymore

Valerie Bertinelli and Drew Barrymore engaged in a candid conversation about the possibility of each tying the knot on the Sept. 10 episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show."

Bertinelli, who joined the daytime talk show as a lifestyle expert ahead of Season 5, which premiered Sept. 9, shared that actor Kaley Cuoco — who's been married twice in the past and vowed to never do it again — recently announced her engagement to partner Tom Pelphrey.

"Drew, do you think you'd ever walk down the aisle again?" Bertinelli, 64, asked Barrymore, 49, in a video from the episode posted on TikTok and Instagram.

Barrymore, who has said "I do" three times in the past, said that divorce, for her, feels a lot more "shameful" than breakups between people who aren't married.

"So you're like, I'll do anything to avoid that shame again," Barrymore told the former "Hot in Cleveland" star.

She jokingly added that she or anyone else deciding to marry for a fourth time should just "own it."

"You've got to at that point own it and be a baller and be like, 'I get married whenever I want,'" Barrymore said as audience members laughed.

"And you lay out a tone and a foundation that people can't question because you're not questioning it," she added.

Bertinelli interjected, "But if you're in love—" She then said of Cuoco's engagement, "I mean, like, good for her."

"If I've learned anything at this age, it's never say never, at all," Bertinelli added.

When Barrymore asked her to discuss whether she'd get married again, Bertinelli stammered before bursting into laughter.

"Well, I've been married twice," she said. "And that shame thing, that slapped me in the face right there because, I think, during anybody's life, I think, we're slowly from childhood building and adding shame into our soul.

"And I think the key to feeling beautiful and feeling like you're worthy and feeling like you are enough is to release a lot of that shame," she concluded.

Bertinelli, who revealed her romance with writer Mike Goodnough in April, added that there is "good shame" and "bad shame" and that "bad shame" keeps a person in "self-loathing."

"And that's what I'm working on right now," she said.

Though Bertinelli never confirmed if she'd be up for another marriage, she wrapped up the segment with words of encouragement for others.

"Do what you want to do," she said. "Do what feels good. As long as you're not hurting anybody, do what you want to do."

Barrymore was married to ex-husband Will Kopelman from 2012 to 2016. The former couple share two daughters, Olive and Frankie. She was also previously married to Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995 and to comedian Tom Green from 2001 to 2002.

Bertinelli divorced her ex-husband Tom Vitale in 2022 after 11 years of marriage. She was previously married to late rock musician Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until 2007. She has a son from her marriage to Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen, 33.
