'The Vampire Diaries': Nina Dobrev makes waves in joke apology video to Paul Wesley
Nina Dobrev revealed in June she and her "Vampire Diaries" co-star Paul Wesley didn't always get along. Months later, her comments are still making a splash.
The actress posted a tongue-in-cheek video on Instagram Tuesday of her at a pool party in Ibiza, Spain. As the actress stands by the pool, she's approached by a familiar face.
"Hey, Nina," Wesley says, giving his on-screen love interest a hug.
Dobrev takes the chance to clear the air.
"Hey, you know, I never got to tell you. I'm sure you saw all the (press)," she says. "It was so stupid. You know how much I love you, and that's what I was trying to get across. But obviously they took one sentence out of context."
"It just got blown out of proportion," Wesley adds.
"So stupid," Dobrev replies. "I'm sorry either way that it even happened."
Wesley assures Dobrev whatever drama they had is behind them.
"Listen, if there's one thing everyone knows about me, it's that I don't hold grudges," he says. "It's in the past."
"Thank you," Dobrev says. "I appreciate it."
"No problem, of course," Wesley says as he pushes Dobrev into the pool behind them – dress, hat, glasses and all.
The second picture of the post shows the stars smiling side-by-side, with Dobrev's hair drenched.
"I 'despise' you," she wrote in the caption, echoing what she said about Wesley on the "Directionally Challenged" podcast in June.
"Hahahaha YES!!!," commented Wesley. "(love) you Dobreva"

Though good friends now, Dobrev revealed on the podcast, hosted by her "Vampire Diaries" co-stars Candice King and Kayla Ewell, she and Wesley "despised" each other in real life during the early days of filming the CW series.
"Paul and I didn't get along at the beginning of the show. I respected Paul Wesley, I didn't like Paul Wesley," the 30-year-old said. On the show, the duo played on-again, off-again lovers Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore.

Dobrev said her onscreen connection with Wesley was so convincing many people speculated their relationship carried over off-set.
"I remember everyone would walk up to me after the show aired, and they'd be like, 'Are you and Paul dating in real life?'" she recalled. "Because everyone thought that we had such good chemistry."

What viewers really saw was "a fine line between love and hate." Dobrev said, "We despised each other so much, that it read as love."
Despite a rocky start, Dobrev and Wesley are now the best of friends.
"We ended up getting to a good place and it was fine. Of everyone, I think I probably see him the most and hang out with him the most. We’re probably the closest," Dobrev said.
