A Veteran 'General Hospital' Star Returns to Port Charles
Steve Burton returned to Port Charles in May to reprise his role as Jason Morgan, Jonathan Jackson is also checking back into General Hospital for another run as Lucky Spencer, and now Emma Samms can be added to the list of fan favorites rejoining the long-running ABC soap opera when she once again steps into the shoes of Holly Sutton, Variety reports.
Samms first joined the cast of General Hospital in July 1982 where she remained until 1985 when she left to play the role of Fallon Carrington Colby on the primetime soap The Colbys.

Since then, Samms has been in and out of Port Charles, returning for a yearlong stint in 1992-93, and then popping in occasionally when the storyline demanded, such as an appearance for Luke’s (Anthony Geary) funeral in 2015.
Her last appearance was in 2023 when she joined forces with Anna (Finola Hughes) and Scott (Kin Shriner) to save the world from a biological weapon. She might have stayed on but when she was unable to win back the heart of Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers), she decided to return to Australia.
This time around, her return is expected to tie in to that of Jackson’s but GH is being tight-lipped on the upcoming storyline.
Samms has made no secret of the fact that she suffers from Long COVID, which she contracted in March 2020, and continues to affect her day-to-day life. She blogged about it most recently this April, describing the symptoms which include chest pains, tinnitus, lethargy and a loss of taste, and her approach to dealing with a long illness, as well as the assistance she gets from her husband.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams on Hulu.
