Victoria Monét Makes Her 2024 BET Awards Performance Debut with 'On My Mama' and 'Alright'
The three-time Grammy winner performed on the BET Awards main stage for the first time on Sunday
At long last, Victoria Monét finally brought her Jaguar magic to the BET Awards main stage!
For the first time in her career, the “Hollywood” singer-songwriter, 35, appeared as a top act during Culture’s Biggest Night, kicking things off with a nostalgic Y2K performance of her smash "On My Mama" — complete with its signature choreography.
She then took things "to the future" with producer Kaytranada on the ones and twos, performing her latest bubbling hit, "Alright," with a pop-icon-influenced set inspired by the track's music video, which was released on June 11.
Monét’s highly anticipated BET Awards performance comes nearly a year after she was turned down for a slot at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. In September, the Jaguar II artist told followers on X, “My team was told it is ‘too early in my story’ for that opportunity,” after fans complained about her absence from the show.
But it didn’t take long for Monét to prove her star power. When Grammy nominations rolled out a few months later, amid her sold-out headlining tour, the triple threat emerged as the second-most nominated artist with seven whopping nods total. By February, Monét took home three of her first-ever Grammy wins for best new artist, best R&B album and best engineered album, non-classical.
Following her triumphant night, the ASCAP honoree made her Coachella debut and is set for more live performances this summer at Broccoli City Festival, Lollapalooza and Outside Lands Festival.
She's also been nominated across five BET Awards categories, including album of the year and best female R&B/pop artist.
The 2024 BET Awards are airing live on June 30 at 8 p.m. ET/ PT live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
