Vijay Deverakonda is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Family Star. The movie marks the first collaboration between the actor and Bollywood diva Mrunal Thakur. A few days away from its release date, the movie has already begun earning. A new report has claimed that the movie earned millions through its OTT deal.

After several delays, Family Star is all set to hit the theaters. As per its trailer, Deverakonda plays the role of a common man who loves his family and goes the extra mile even to fight goons when it comes to his family’s safety. The movie will also feature a romantic angle between Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur. Parasuram is directing the movie, while Dil Raju is producing it under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.

Netflix acquired Family Star OTT rights for $1.9 million?

A report by OTTplay has claimed that the OTT giant Netflix has acquired the digital rights for Family Star. The report mentioned that the streaming giant paid a whopping $1.9 million to crack the deal. This is allegedly the highest for a Vijay Deverakonda movie to earn from its digital rights deal.

Amazon Prime Video also has the digital rights for Family Star. The movie will make its digital debut on the OTT giant after its exclusive theatrical release.

The same report claimed that the pre-release business of the movie seems promising. So far, the movie has allegedly earned a whopping $5.4 million. It reportedly needs to make $4.4 million more to enter the safe zone.

The makers of the movie are expecting an excellent response from the audience. Its team, including the lead stars, are rigorously promoting the movie. Moreover, Rashmika Mandanna is scheduled to make a cameo in the movie, but only for a song.

Family Star will hit the theaters worldwide on April 5, 2024.
